"NATION’S BEST ATHLETE" VEGAS CHAMPIONSHIP GUIDELINES
SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION!
May 15, 2010 - Las Vegas, NV

 
 Steps to competing for a scholarship in "Nation's Best Athlete" competition in Las Vegas, NV - May 15, 2010:
 1.  Receive a Bid (at a competition or by being nominated -- see guidelines below)
 2.  Register for Nation's Best Athlete competition
 3.  Write your essay and keep copies of your school report cards.
 4.  Compete at the "Nation's Best Athlete" competition in Las Vegas, NV - May 15, 2010
 5.  The top scores from each of the five categories (listed below in purple) will be called on stage immediately
      for an interview while their essays and report cards are being reviewed by our panel of judges.
6.  The "Nation's Best Athlete" will be announced on stage!!!

CHEER POWER/POWER DANCE QUALIFYING BID:

  • TOP FIVE in every event and age division at all Individual Nationals.

  • TOP THREE in every event and age division at High Point Banquet (South & North).

  • Grand Champion team at any Nationals or Tournament of Champions may select 5 members from the team to compete in individual events.

  • Receives PARTIAL PAID BID

QUALIFYING BID FROM OTHER COMPANY’S INDIVIDUAL NATIONALS:

  • TOP FIVE at any other Company’s Individual National event.

  • Grand Champion team at any Nationals may select 5 members from the team to compete in individual events.

GUIDELINES:

  • If the Individual(s) qualifies in ONLY ONE event they MUST compete in the ONE qualified event and may select to compete in ONE other event.

  • If the Individual(s) qualifies in MULTIPLE events they may ONLY compete in those events.

  • If competing in group events, ½ of the group may be replaced.

  • The Individual(s) must follow Cheer Power/Power Dance Individual Guidelines.

  • If an Individual(s) changes gym/school/recreation program, the bid will follow the individual(s).

  • Individual(s) must be a member of a cheer or dance team; however that team does not need to compete.

Cheer Power/Power Dance reserves the right to give AT LARGE BIDS for the following:

1.   Extremely LARGE divisions
2.   Extremely HIGH scores

AWARDS:

  • All Individuals will receive a GIFT!

    All Individuals will be placed out at awards:

  • CHAMPIONS in each event and age division will receive:

  •      1.  CASH AWARD (see chart for amounts) EXCEPTION: Must have 3 individuals in the division to receive the CASH AWARD.In divisions that have been separated into male/female, the cash award will be given to the highest scoring Champion of the two.

  •      2.  PRESTIGIOUS TROPHY

  •      3.  Pictured on American Cheer Power website.

  •      4.  Championship Bag

NATION’S BEST INDIVIDUAL GRAND CHAMPION will be awarded:

     1.    $1,000 Scholarship – The highest scoring SOLO INDIVIDUAL from the following categories:

               Varsity Elite Best Cheerleader
               Varsity Best Cheerleader
               Varsity Tumble Pass/Jump Only (combined)
               Varsity Cheer Only/Crowd Pleaser (combined)
               Varsity Best Dancer Jazz/Lyrical/Hip-Hop (combined)

2.    NATION’S BEST INDIVIDUAL GRAND CHAMPION WINNER will receive an additional $5,000 toward their college fund for a winning scholarship totaling $6,000.  WINNERS FROM PRIOR SEASONS CANNOT BE AWARDED MORE THAN $10,000 TOTAL.

3.    Nation’s Best Individual Grand Champion will be selected on the following basis:

               Essay on “What Cheerleading/Dancing means to me."
         Report Card
         (
Please bring these items with you to Vegas.  If you fail to do so, you will receive a 0 for that portion of the score.)
         On-Stage Interview

4.    There MUST be at least FIVE athletes in a category in order to qualify for Grand Champion.

5.    Scholarship money will be paid directly to the college/university in which the athlete is enrolled.  All money for non-graduating seniors will be held in an interest baring account until graduation.  Athletes not attending college will lose their scholarship money.  Graduating seniors have one year to enter a college program and must be enrolled in at least 12 hours to be eligible for the money.

6.    An athlete may represent only one-category/combined categories.

7.    In the event that an athlete wins highest score in more than one area, he/she will represent the category with his/her highest score.  Judges will then select a Grand Champion Nominee with the next highest score to compete for Nation’s Best Individual Grand Champion.

  • T-shirt exchange - Bring your gym/school t-shirt to exchange with someone from another gym/school.

  • Award for Best T-shirt slogan/design WORN BY PARENTS!

  • Plaque- Parent Participation.
